The Benefits of Cloud Seeding
In 2004, research showed that air pollution actually suppresses precipitation in clouds. Clean clouds carry big fat raindrops because there's not as much dust and smoke to cling to. Meanwhile, polluted clouds are full of tiny raindrops that might not ever get heavy enough to fall out. The only downside is that you're putting silver iodide particles into the air. But so far there aren't any studies showing negative environmental consequences.
