Charlie Parker learned how to play saxophone because his family was so poor, all they could afford was basically a saxophone that was falling apart. He practiced six hours a day on a broken saxophone for five years before he got enough money to buy a real one. That's the side of the artistic process "that movies don't do enough justice to," says Parker. Do you still play? Do you lose it anymore? It can be just something that you pick up again.
