The 19 38 passage of the federal food drug and cosmetic act set the groundwork for our modern day regulation od drugs and cosmetics. If you want to introduce a new molecular entity into the market, it has to go through this extremely rigorous pro sof evaluation before it can be even tried on humans. We have animal tests, human trials, phase one, face two, face three test ing like all these steps to make sure that no one is putting anti frieze in the sirup. Sure there are mistakes made, but there's a level of trust that you can have when you take a drug because there is a process in place to evaluate drugs.
