Medicaid, Medicare, or Insurance?
Wendy Welch: You will find providers in rural areas who stop taking Medicaid and Medicare. The amount the provider of the procedure or care will be reimbursed varies widely depending on whether it's Medicaid, Medicare, or insurance. Hospitals that are nonprofit hospitals don't have the option to refuse to take Medicaid or Medicare patients. She says doctors coming out of medical school look at this economic quagmire as a problem.
