LZ Granderson: Why are there so many more protections for cold than for heat? He says some of this goes back to federal programs that have been set up around cold weather. LZ: Heat is not a southern versus northern issue, like I said, this can affect the entire country in different ways. There are things we can do about our built environment that actually make it more comfortable to live in hot weather and that includes having more trees in cities.
