Refugees and the Cold War Discrimination
The history of how refuges have been treated has really been tangled up in the cold war. The 19 51 convention is for someone whose fleeing persecution on an individual basis, and that doesn't cover a lot of people who are just escaping from war or some other catastrophe. It's designed for a specific kind of person, which is essentially cold war discident. So migrant try to share our knowledge and tactics in order to navigate the asylum bureaucracy.
