The Invasion of Cambotia
The power of french culture is so seductive andi so globally distributed. The history of imperial countries means that people who have been colonized by them are nevertheless subject to the beautiful aspects of t their cultures, their civilizations, their languages. But as always we need to be able to think through both the beauty of a culture and the capacity for that ture to do horrifying and terrible things. Even the victims of imperialism, like the viodemes, can themselves turn into imperialists.
