Ispeaks to what we were saying before, about how lovecraft is basically using this sort of fictional front to share esoteric ideas. So, yes, maybe he's putting somewhat of a spin on it, but no, you're absolutely right. There's a syncratism, a truth parallel nature to these things that speaks to it being much older than his authorship.
