The path took them through many twists and turns. Alice could feel magic buzzing in her fingers and toes, propelling her forward. She knew without a doubt that they were just a few steps away from that poisonous red apple. But first, the gargoyles. The archway of trees had led them directly to the foot of a small castle. On either side of a tall oak door sat two gargoyles, also made from the branches of apples. They sat perfectly still until Alice and Octavia approached.
