Apple claim the iPhone 12 can do 11 billion floating point operations per second. The current batch of supercomputers are doing roughly 10 to the power of 17 calculations per second. Which makes a supercomputer about 10 million times faster than an iPhone 12. You have to put another way to rival the current top supercomputers. You need to have 10 million iPhones joined together. That's only like 100,000 of the supercomputer. So 100,000 Mac laptops could give you a top supercomputer.
