And unlike something like accruing money or getting promotions, it can be somewhat difficult for people to feel like they're actually making some sort of tangible progress. The best thing to do is are other people telling you in a fairly reliable basis that you seem to not be repeat your patterns of self deception and self destructive behaviour.
