Green Eggs and Ham is one of the top best-selling children's books of all time. Dr. Seuss strongly believed that kids could be presented with any topic, even hard controversial ones,. as long as the ideas were presented playfully and they didn't preach. He would joke that he was responsible for ending the Cold War because shortly after the Butter Battle book was televised in the Soviet Union, quote, the USSR began falling apart.
