The Reset of Wealth
The US and Australia which is a fairly small country we don't have this experience of the massive wealth drawdown but for every other country that is basically how the reset happens. There are enough data points to get suspicious where wealth actually seems to persist in families even if the nominal wealth gets totally wiped out. The descendants of wealthy slave owners in post civil war south ended up being wealthier than average despite their land getting expropriated or otherwise destroyed. In England today as far as I know it is fairly uncommon to murder anyone in a duel over the back of the people who have the same mistress or something so that is another way in which wealth gets retained over a really long period.
