The Charges to Earnings of the New Scott Pfitzer
Berkshire Hathaway bought Scott Pfitzer in 1986 for $28.6 million. The company wrote off much of its inventory during the year, adding an extra $11.6 million to earnings. Berkshire says owner earnings are considerably larger than GAAP figures that we report. Buffett: Most managers will acknowledge they need to spend more on their businesses.
