The Limits of Growth

There certainly is a history of people thinking that maybe there are some kinds of limits to growth. The 19th century from 1815 to 1913 was a point when you had both globalization and technological progress happening in parallel. I would argue that from 1914 to 1970 globalization went badly in reverse. It started with World War I and it probably kept getting worse until 1971.
