COVID and Prolonged Mechanical Ventilation

The longer that someone is on mechanical ventilation, the worse their survival is. Some people have pushed even towards lengthening it to 10 days for ECMO patients. I think most experts though, overall, will say increased duration of positive pressure ventilation is probably unfortunately going to be linked to worse outcomes. We want these people early within 48 hours is wonderful and ideal, but definitely less than seven days if possible.
