Questions of control money creation and credit provision used to be at the very centre of american democratic politics. But in recent years, it's just been ran pall ye. It's the preserve of libertarian cranks, a socialist and in more recent years, this modern monetary theory movement. For many decades now, we've had the ideal of independence and the idea that money is a purely technical issue. And really it's actually dangerous to have this at all in the realm of democratic contestation.
