The Toxicity of Male Behaviors

Toxic masculinity is usually associated with certain behaviors. It's not the behaviors themselves that are toxically masculine, but a character type which is engaging in these behaviors. If a woman were to engage in those behaviors, one would say that that's a toxically feminine character type. Masculinity is like the genus and its species; if you've got sort of vice or vaseousness, you've got the toxic species of masculinity. And if it's not vaseous, if it's virtuous, you have positive masculinity. But notice something really interesting there. We haven't seen a class of a quiescent for the vaseous type of masculinity.
