What's the Word Exploit?

When you can really sing, and when you're willing to really say how you feel, that's powerful. Close enough to start a war. So how is a producer? What's the word? Is it to exploit their vulnerability? Because exploit has so many negative connotations with it. To push that artist to a place where they are truly in communion with their own feelings. That could be a place of immense pain. I wouldn't say exploit is the right way at all.
