The Role of Knowledge in Pessimism
There are the Greta Thumburgs out there, for sure. Let's call them radical pessimists. But then I think there's a lot of people for whom they'll see an article about how climate change is destroying the world or what have you. They won't internalize it too much, but they will maybe like it or reshare it a little bit. And it's almost just like unconscious pessimism, which in any one individual person, you might not be able to detect. You can detect it at a cultural or societal level based on what means tend to go viral through a mean pool.
