Teaching Games for Understanding
Rod Thorpe was a teacher at Loughborough College, which then morphed into Loughborough University. He and David Bunker were thinking out of the box about how you could teach games in a different way. In 1983 there was another series of publications in the bulletin of PE which published a model because people would probably say, well, what does this thing look like? So the learner was situated in the centre, so in a small sort of concentric circle and then a wider circle, a bit like a doorknob or an onion ring. On the outside, then you add a circular floor of these different elements.
