The Hard Lever: A History of the Denazification Process

Hundreds of thousands of suspected Nazi war criminals and other Nazi sympathizers are returned by the Americans and British back to West German authorities. The so-called denazification proceedings, which denotes, you know, very flawed legal to process that basically saw the notables in a village or in a neighborhood. There was no incentive on the side of the German, or the Western German authorities to convict or indict their fellow compatriots for crimes that they had committed themselves and for sympathies that they had held. So it is denazification in Germany as a whole, but particularly in West Germany was a myth.
