The psychological impulse to own something other than cash has created a situation where stock market valuations have been bid up to levels that imply negative S&P 500 total returns for well over 12 years. Now I'm not saying to not trade the mania by all means from a trend following perspective. Much of what John is saying has no bearing on your decisions. Ultimately, if you're a true trend following trader, none of this matters.
