The Origins of the Old Jaw Birds

There was an assumption that the common ancestor of all of these birds would have lived in the southern part of the world. But Peter and his fellow scientists didn't think so, thanks to a unique feature that sets these birds apart from most others. Modern birds have upper bills that they can move independently of their lower bills. These birds instead have what we call paleo, old, nathus, old jaw which is more like that of a lizard.
