In a case of what dave termed tree senility, these agents were attracted to trees. Now this turned out to be a useful strategy, because the trees afforded them protection from predators. But there's an interesting interaction between their reward function and their behavior. And by the end of their life, they were so good at being near trees that they never left the trees, starved and died.
