Archduke ferdinand's army, under the guidance of general mock tormed into bavaria. The small bavarian army had no choice but to withdraw in the face of superior forces and hope napoleon arrived before they were forced into a battle. Napoleon received word from his cavalry that the austrian forces were still marching west. He wrote to thornminster tallyrand, everything goes well. God willing, they will stay there. My only fear is that we shall scare them too much. With the benefit of hindsight, the conduct of the austrian military looks incredibly foolish.
