What Happened When the iPhone Launched?
The iPhone came out and all of a sudden that kind of defined, you know, due to marketing, due to uptake. So it was clear after the iPhone came out that they couldn't launch that sooner device because there's no sense competing with a BlackBerry after iPhone exists. Android now had something unexpected going for them. The G1 was the T-Mobile G1 in the US and the HTC Dream elsewhere.
