Paul is caught up in all kinds of a work that involved itinerant ministry. In some ways, the conversation with the corinthians is an ongoing conversation. It's framed by the fact that paul has been there, but he's not there now. And so he's appealing them and saying, even tho 'm away from you, ah, these are the biblical principles that you ought to be living in while i'm away.
