The pulses paradoxis is the difference in systolic blood pressure between inspiration and expiration. In certain circumstances, the ability of the RV to expand outward and accommodate this blood is reduced. This may occur in something like constrictive pericarditis or if there's a significant pericardiolefusion that limits outward RV expansion. So if you bring more blood to the right side of the heart during inspiration and the RV cannot dilate to accommodate it, where does this blood go? If the RV can't go outward, then it must expand inward. It displaces the septum into the cavity of the left ventricle. As a result, the LV stroke volume
