The Diagnostic Workup of Primary Amenorrhea

Primary amenorrhea is defined as absence of first menstruation by age 16 in the presence of puberdal changes mainly breast development. In this case it's indicated to check both FSH and LH in the serum. Low values defined as less than 5 makes the diagnosis of hypogonatotropic hypogonadism. 46xx may signify premature ovarian failure whereas 45x0 signifies Turner syndrome.
