How Do You Know When You're Training Hard?

When i was, when i was a bit younger, my volume actually used to be way higher in terms of working sets per muscle group. Now if i do a really good set where i reach like true muscle failure, not like systemic failure, there's almost no chance that i can match performance,. cause i've accumulated so much fatigue on the actual target tissue. So sometimes, like now, when i finish a really hard working set um, i just feel like my muscle literally had nothing left, but my body as a whole actually had more.
