We need to know why we became a butler in the first place. We have been very comfortable, for a long time, with accepting this money into our cities. The biggest gift that we could give to the most desperately poor people in the world is to stop their rulers stealing from them. And the way we could do that is by stopping helping cletocrats and oligarchs have all their problems solved and live here as if they were legal, entirely respectable human beings.
Bestselling investigative journalist Oliver Bullough discusses his recent book, Butler to the World, which details how Britain became a favoured destination for funnelling the finances of oligarchs and the globe's super rich. He joins fellow journalist and broadcaster Manveen Rana to talk about the book and how international finance plays into the current situation in Ukraine.
