Eumenes had to weigh which was the greater risk, to go at it alone ork as two divided and independent but allied armies. Eumenes decided to choose the path in which he and his men were more sters of their own destiny. Antigonus brought with him 30 battle elephants along with ten thousand infantry. But unfortunately, one of eumenes chief cavalry commanders had been approached secretly by antigonus beforehand. During the battle, this commander, with his entire division, switched is in the middle of combat. So eumenes was defeated and he sounded a general retreat.
