Is There a New Culture Emerging?
Buddhist teacher Trungpa Rinpoche wrote a book which he called, very sagely, cutting through spiritual materialism. He warned that this is simply by moving from the material to the spiritual doesn't eradicate or don't cure this underlying desire. So here we have it, a new culture emerging. It's only emerged in the last couple decades in the earliest stages of capitalism. The religious and moral virtues which had to be taught were self-control, delayed gratification, fifth, thrift. We've moved into consumer capitalism over production - what to do with all of these things?
