The Last Crusade of the Doge

The Venetians put in at every port along the eastern Adriatic coast. Demanding submission from towns aligned with Hungary and contributions from those loyal to Venice. The fleet landed easily but found the gates of the city closed and defenders patrolling the walls. It was now that the leaders revealed the deal they'd struck with the Venetians to capture Zara. This caused outrage amongst many of the Latins who hadn't agreed to this. They were determined not to soil their pilgrimage with the blood of Christians. In pure Sitcom fashion Enrico Dandalo entered stage left to accept the surrender, only to discover what had happened.
