The Universality of Contrast
Mau says that everything contains within itself its own particular contradiction. And it's precisely this particular contradiction in a thing which constitutes its individual essence and thus distinguishes it from other things. So the universality of contradiction also means that anew when a new process emerges, it is already constituted on the basis of contradiction. We have no way of discovering the universal cause or development of things unless we understand the particularity of contradiction. There is a dialectical relationship between the uni versal and the particularities of contradiction. As mau says, unless we understand these contradictions there will be no understanding of human nature.
