There's strong evidence that insulin resistance type two diabetes is highly associated with depression, anxiety disorders. Children who had the highest levels of insulin resistance beginning at age nine were three times more likely to develop schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Insulin resistance was also associated with a higher rate about double the rate of plain old depression but that did not reach statistical significance in the sample.
