Wrighte: Segwit was an upgrade that activated on august 20, seventeenth. Segwad is a really hardening, and it's an upgrade that helps harden the protocol and compresses data. The more transactions that use segwit actually can have an effective block size increase. Wrighte: I think this ends up being a really important story for bicoin development going forward. It also solved transaction malliability, which enabled things like lightning network.
