Marooned Communities in the Caribbean

Maroon communities have been established since the early sixteenth century. In 15 forty six, in hispaniola, there were over seven thousand maroons among a slave population of tuty thousand. There is still an active maroon community in jamaica to this day that has persisted and maintained their traditions.
