When You're About to Give Birth, Get Into Hospital

The nearest hospital is nearly 30 kilometers away in burdu, Nigeria. Most people don't have a car and the roads are untarred and dusty. When you're about to give birth or something goes wrong, getting into hospital quickly can mean the difference between life and death for you and your baby. According to world health organization, more than 50 thousand women die every year in childbirth because of complications. Nearly 20 per cent of global maternal deaths happen in rural areas like burdu. But if these women could get to hospital quickly, lives could be saved.
