The Apocalypse of John
Is this kind of language par for the course in the ancient world? Is it normal? Or is this even for for its time pretty extreme? It's a different form of normal from what you find Jesus teaching in the gospel. John thought John considered himself an upright Christian, but I'm not sure Jesus would consider him one of his followers. He was very ardent Christian. So he certainly thought that he was a Christian. But at the end of my book, I compare what John has to say about violence and dominance and passion for wealth in contrast to what Jesus himself said.
