The Soul of a Free Man

Dabysir was a slave in Syria. He stole two camels from his master and tried to flee the country. The maid of Syria took him to her mistress, who said he had stolen the camels while she visited her sick mother. She accused Dabysir of having the soul of a free man or a slave. "Now is thy chance to prove it,' I insisted. 'I wish that I might lead thee to happiness.' But Happiness does not await those who seek it in far lands among strange people"
