What Would It Look Like to Have an Unshredded Safety Net?
In the last 20 years, we've seen George W. Bush increase the prescription drug benefit and then Barack Obama's signature program domestically was Obamacare. If a massive growth is declined in the size of the welfare system, generally the only thing that would be satisfactory to people who are criticizing our current social system is government controlling it completely. And the same goes for deregulation. So I think if we peel away this useless term, this destructive term, cognitively destructive term of neoliberal, put it aside from it, what is it we're looking at? We're looking at an economy with significant and growing amounts of government intervention.
