The Council of Friendship

We must neither love nor receive his imperfections, for friendship requires communion in the good, not evil. We must indeed meekly bear with our friend in his imperfections but we must not lead him into them much less transplant them into our own souls. Separate what is precious from what is vile, for scarcely anyone is wholly lacking in imperfection. Be good money changers. Do not take bad money with good, nor base gold with the fine.
