Starting Points

i think it's ok to start from the idea that our senses are accurately revealing an external reality to us, a not afallible starting point. What's wrong with having that as why is that not philosophically, rationally permissible to have that as a starting point? i'm increasingly doubtful whether it's possible to do that because as soon as you start to try to describe it, youe affectit, to change it.
