Sargon ruled for some 55 or 56 years in total, though only a zen or 15 after his defeat of lugalzagessi of uruk. Whatever structures he built during his lifetime weren't stable enough to prevent a massive revolt in sumer when he died and was succeeded by his son,. Rimush couldn't prevent the rebellion, but he did crush it in astoundingly brutal fashion. Ur lagash adab, zabala, uma and kian all rose up; rimush left thousands upon thousands of his enemies dead. And led thousands more away into captivity.
