The Dangers of Monumental History
The past is not a transhistorical chain of currently living in the spirit of humanity heroes. The past involves also the people that those heroes wronged and killed, whether it's other people or non-famous people. So monumental history can lead us to falsely think that history is just the chain of great men. It leads you to make an inference about what is possible as if possibility didn't vary over time.
