I think there's a fundamental tension between working on one thing and giving it your full focus. I tend to be on the extreme end of working on multiple projects, but that also has severe downsides. The way that I've found that seems to work for me is not just to have different recurring buckets of things that I'm working on. That's been very helpful, but to find ways for them to be mutually supportive for them to feed into each other.
