Applied Approach to Protein Structure Prediction

It seems your history is very much on the application side. How did you end up on the more basic research side? My approach to research has been to consider a problem that is of interest and that is important, and how can you approach it in a multidicipinary way. When i moved to deep mine, i wanted to have that problem driven approved to the work i did.
