"I was carried to the county jail and put in the book and move," Casey says. "It wasn't too long before three white men came to myself ... The guards came in and they made black men beat her, damn near the dead." He recalls hearing Fannie Lou Hamer talk about being beaten by prison guards when she tried to register blacks for voting.
